Membership and Facility Access
Valid memberships must be presented at check-in. Non-members must purchase a day pass or use a guest pass when accompanied by an active member. All members, guests, and visitors must check in at the front desk before using the facility.
General Conduct
All members, guests, and visitors are expected to act respectfully toward staff, other patrons, and the facility. Disruptive behavior, unsafe conduct, harassment, damage to property, or failure to follow staff direction may result in removal from the facility or suspension of facility privileges.
Respect for Shared Spaces
Members and guests are expected to clean equipment after use, return items to their proper location, respect other patrons’ privacy, and allow others to use shared equipment and spaces in a fair and courteous manner.
Fitness and Weight Area
The fitness and weight area is intended for safe, focused exercise. Proper workout attire and closed-toe athletic shoes are required.
Children under the age of 12 are not permitted to use the fitness or weight area. Children age 12 and older may use the fitness area only in accordance with posted facility rules and staff direction.
Unattended children are not permitted in the fitness or weight area at any time. Children may not sit, wait, play, or remain near exercise machines, free weights, benches, cable equipment, cardio equipment, or stretching areas while a parent or guardian works out.
Babywearing is not permitted in the fitness or weight area. Parents, guardians, or caregivers may not use cardio machines, strength equipment, free weights, cable machines, or other fitness equipment while carrying, wearing, or holding an infant or child.
RCRC reserves the right to require any child or supervising adult to leave the fitness or weight area if staff determines there is a safety concern.
Child Watch Policy
Child Watch is available for children ages 6 months through 8 years old during posted Child Watch hours.
Parents or guardians must remain inside the Rush County Recreation Center facility while their child is in Child Watch. Child Watch is not a drop-off childcare service, and parents or guardians may not leave the building while their child is checked in.
Children must be checked in and checked out by a parent or guardian. Staff may request identification at pick-up when needed.
If a child becomes upset and cannot be comforted after 10 minutes, Child Watch staff will contact the parent or guardian to return to the Child Watch area.
Child Watch staff will contact the parent or guardian if a diaper change is needed. Parents or guardians are responsible for changing diapers.
For older children, Child Watch staff will contact the parent or guardian for restroom or potty needs when assistance is required. Children who are not fully independent with toileting may require parent or guardian assistance.
Children who are sick, have a fever, show symptoms of contagious illness, or require one-on-one care may not use Child Watch. Staff reserve the right to deny or discontinue Child Watch use when a child’s needs exceed the scope of the service or when safety concerns are present.
Youth Supervision
Children must be supervised according to posted facility rules. Parents and guardians are responsible for their child’s behavior, safety, and compliance with facility expectations at all times.
Children may not be left unattended in hallways, locker rooms, the gymnasium, the pool area, the fitness area, the weight area, or other shared spaces.
Aquatic Center
Lifeguard supervision is mandatory during posted pool hours. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult in the aquatic area.
All swimmers must follow posted pool rules, lifeguard instructions, and swim test requirements where applicable. Unsafe behavior, running, rough play, diving in unauthorized areas, or failure to follow lifeguard directions may result in removal from the pool area.
Pool Etiquette
Lane sharing is encouraged during busy hours. Members and guests must follow posted swim times, lane designations, open swim rules, and aquatic programming schedules.
